When you use PROC METABLIB to update table metadata for an XML library, the update might fail with the following error:

This error might occur when the following is true:

1. The library had been defined originally in SAS^® Data Integration Studio 3.4.
2. The library was defined with the new XML Source Template.

To circumvent this error, define the library with the Generic Library Template.
